Grandma Lulu’s Table advances food justice by empowering lives through advocacy, education, and the mobile distribution of nutritious, plant-based meals to food insecure individuals, families, and communities in San Diego County.
Grandma LuLu’s Table is a creative solution to the childhood hunger and malnutrition crisis in the San Diego area. We will meet the need where it is most needed – by taking a mobile kitchen to the places where hunger persists and offering a healthy, plant-based breakfast on weekends to people – especially children – in need.
There are a lot of hungry people here in San Diego and our mobile kitchen is an innovative solution to that problem. According to the San Diego Hunger Coalition, about 1 in 7 people in San Diego County experienced food insecurity in 2017. That is 302,000 adults and 141,000 children who are not getting enough to eat. Grandma LuLu’s Table will focus on breakfast through community. We will take that meal right to their neighborhood.
